About Us King's Language Centre offers a wide range of languages as part of our short courses provision from beginner to advanced level. Our mission is to engage the community at King's and beyond in language learning and intercultural communication. Our immersive language classes use the communicative method and are taught by highly skilled and experienced native speakers. The classes are taught in the heart of London at our Strand and Waterloo campuses. We also offer some courses online via Microsoft Teams.

About the Role This role is a fixed-term post to provide high quality teaching on our short courses programme for students, staff, and the public. Classes are taught in the evenings after 6 pm or on Saturday mornings both in person and online. Usually, classes run over three terms of ten weeks each starting in January and April.
We are looking for individuals who are experienced in teaching Swedish
At the time of advertising we are unable to commit to guaranteed hours as this is dependent on our upcoming enrolment numbers, which will be confirmed nearer the term start. It is expected that work will be aligned to three terms starting in October, January and April running for 10 weeks each term. We are asking people to have flexibility in their availability which will be discussed with you at the offer stage if you're successful.
Key Responsibilities will include: - Prepare and deliver in-person and/or online classes for learners on our short courses programme on weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings.
- Create general and week-by-week syllabi for the relevant language and level.
- Maintain the digital learning platform for students.
- Liaise with the relevant Team Leader, Deputy Team Leader, and Professional Services Team to ensure timely communication and smooth delivery of classes.
- Attend team meetings and professional development sessions as required.

Skills, knowledge, and experience Essential criteria - Teaching qualification or degree in a relevant subject area
- Experience in teaching language classes at various levels for a range of different learners
- Native level fluency in one of the following languages Dutch, British Sign Language (BSL), Swedish, Gujarati, Hindi, Panjabi or Bengali
- Experience in creating engaging teaching materials, including digital materials
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Skills in using digital platforms and MS Office software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
