The Swedish Club Hong Kong which was established in 1982 serving as the regional hub for Greater China works closely with members, brokers, and partners, supporting a strong fleet and delivering high-quality underwriting, claims, and loss prevention services.
The Swedish Club Hong Kong branch is offering a paid one-year traineeship designed for students or recent graduates who are eager to gain hands-on experience in the maritime and marine insurance sector. This programme provides a unique opportunity to work closely with our international team and build practical skills across several core functions.
What You Will Do During the one-year traineeship, you will support and receive training in key operational areas, including:
- Claims Handling - assisting in case assessment, documentation, member communication, and exposure to real P&I and FD&D matters
- Sanctions & Compliance Support - helping with screening, research, due diligence, and monitoring processes
- Underwriting Assistance - supporting quotation preparation, KYC analysis, member profiling, and administrative tasks
- Training & Professional Development - structured mentorship, on-the-job learning, and participation in internal and beyond organisation knowledge-sharing sessions
What We're Looking For - Students or graduates in law, maritime studies, transport logistics, business, insurance, or related subjects
- Strong communication skills; fluency in English required, Mandarin/Cantonese an advantage
- A curious, intelligent, and proactive mindset, with genuine interest in marine insurance, shipping and legal matters
- Demonstrated ability to work hard and responsible, collaborating effectively in a fast-paced international environment
Programme Duration & Compensation Duration: 12 months, full-time
Start Date: 1st June (or as mutually agreed)
Job prospect: transferring to permanent job either underwriting or claims department based on credit
