Our new innovative IT services organization is HPE Pointnext.  We have the expertise to advise, integrate, and accelerate our customers’ outcomes from their digital transformation. HPE is currently looking for a Senior Level HPC technical consultant with a strong experience in HPC hardware/software and storage to be resident at our customer site in Kajaani in Finland to run the day to day support and manage a large scale HPC solution. Our customer is CSC (also known as Finnish IT center for science) based in Kajaani, Finland. This High Performance Computing specialized position requires in-depth knowledge of Linux, High Speed Networks and Parallel filesystems. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for performing hardware and software maintenance activities within strict Service Level Agreement (SLA) timelines. As well as the technical aspects of the position, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a trusted relationship with key customers in the region and be seen as an aid to them running a successful service.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a computer science or related discipline.
  • An in-depth working knowledge of Linux and at least 3 years of HPC experience are required.
  • The ability to perform hardware repairs on large scale compute and storage components are mandatory requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of massively parallel or SMP systems, file systems, SAN/NAS and networking is highly desirable.

  • The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, well organized and flexible. He or she must take an analytical approach to problem solving and will be fully committed to drive problems through to their conclusion.
  • He or she needs to be a good team player and be committed to investigate and resolve complex problems as part of a wider distributed team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing, and the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines is essential.
  • Attention to details and excellent record keeping is required.
  • The candidate shall be flexible and willing to travel when necessary and will participate in a 7x24 on-call rota as required.

Any additional Hardware and Software training requirements will be identified and suitable training and mentoring will be provided to enable the candidate to provide the depth of support required.
